È il nuovo presidente di ETNO (European Telecommunications Network Operators' Association), l'associazione che riunisce gli operatori storici delle Tlc europee.

Laureato in Economia aziendale presso l'Università Bocconi, ha maturato la propria esperienza professionale prima in Olivetti dove, dal 1996 al 1999, ha ricoperto il ruolo di responsabile dei rapporti con le Istituzioni e le Autorità di settore, passando poi in Telecom Italia, dove ha curato i rapporti con l'Autorità per le garanzie nelle Comunicazioni.

Attualmente dirige la sede di Bruxelles del Gruppo Telecom Italia, con la responsabilità dei rapporti con le istituzioni Internazionali ed europee e ricopre incarichi in diverse associazioni focalizzate sulla promozione e sullo sviluppo delle telecomunicazioni e della società dell'Informazione.

È presidente di Puntoit, l'Associazione italiana per lo Sviluppo della Societa' dell'Informazione, di EUBRASIL (Associazione per lo sviluppo dei rapporti tra l’Europa ed il Brasile), nonché membro di diversi board: EABC (European American Business Council), EIF (European Internet Foundation), GSM Europe Strategy Forum. È esperto designato da Confindustria al BIAC (Business and Industry Advisory Committe) presso l'OCSE ed è membro dell'avisory board di Key4biz..

From 1996 to 1999 Luigi Gambardella ran the regulatory and Institutional affairs for Olivetti. In 1999 he joined the Telecom Italia Group, in charge of relations with the National Regulatory Authority. Currently Luigi is Vice President Relations with European Institutions and International Organizations. Luigi is also the new Chairman of the Executive Board of ETNO - European Telecommunications Network Operators' Association- , President of EUBrasil, the European Association for the development of the relationship between Europe and Brazil, President of Puntoit, the Italian association for the develpment of the digital economy, a Member of the Advisory and Support Group of BUSINESSEUROPE, a Member of the Board of the European American Business Council; a Member of the Board of the European Internet Foundation; and a Member of the BIAC - Business and Industry Advisory Committee- at the OECD. Luigi graduated in economics from Bocconi University in Milan.
