Fred has an extensive Telecommunications background spanning 35 years which includes 20 years in
Engineering with Standard Telephones and Cables (now Nortel) and Plessey where roles were mainly
in Research and Development and hardware design. 

This was followed by 10 years with \Ericsson¤ in roles ranging from UK Technical Sales Director, Global Accounts Director and New Business Director. 

These roles have mainly involved digital fixed networks, Mobile terminals, and GSM and WCDMA 3G Mobile Systems. For the last 5 years Fred has been Director of Strategic Technology Planning for the 3G operator '3'UK, part of the \Hutchison Whampoa¤ Group, where current responsibilities include investigating and encouraging new technologies that have the capability of complement 3GSM and provide new applications and services to '3's customers.
